Here is a little bit about me…

From a very young age, I have been active in sports. When I was 5 years old, I recall pestering my Mother to take me to the park after Nursery School to shoot baskets on the basketball court. I continued to play basketball throughout junior high and high school as a point guard.

I was fortunate to grow up adjacent to a golf course, so my Father taught me how to play when I was 7 years old. I took a few lessons and played in many youth golf tournaments. When I reached High School, my school did not have a Girl’s Golf Team, so I played on the Boy’s Team…and beat a lot of them too.

I also played Volleyball for 4 years in High School.

Just 2 weeks after graduating H.S, I enlisted in the United States Air Force. For the majority of my enlistment, I was stationed at Shaw AFB in Sumter, SC. I worked as a Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room. I was blessed to be able to work alongside many great physicians and observe a wide variety of surgical procedures. During my 4 year enlistment, I played a lot of golf at the base golf course. There were many players of great caliber and I was lucky to be able to play with them and further develop my game. Many times we would play all day long on Saturday and Sundays. I was selected to represent the USAF at the Military Golf Training Camp at Davis Montham AFB in 1996. It was a great honor to be chosen for this team as only 1 female from each branch of service is selected to compete in this event. I also held the Women’s Base & Club Champion titles from 1995-1997.

After my enlistment in the USAF, I received a Golf Scholarship to Coastal Carolina University in Conway, SC. I studied Golf Management and competed on the Women’s Golf Team. After 2 years, I decided to transfer to Lynn University in Boca Raton, FL. I also received a Golf Scholarship there and competed on the Women’s Team for 2 seasons. I changed my major to Business and graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

After college, I competed regularly in qualifying events for the FUTURE’S Golf Tour for 2 years. I was working as an Assistant Golf Professional in South FL, so I was able to play and practice a lot. I taught individual and group Golf lessons and led weekly tournaments.

I first fell in love with the gym in 2000, when I completed my ACE Personal Training Certificate and began working as a Personal Trainer. I met a few people that competed in Bodybuilding. I went to their competitions to support them and was later introduced to their trainer. This is when I first saw the Figure girls on stage and decided right then that I wanted to be in that type of amazing shape. I competed in my first Figure competition in 2003 and have been competing ever since.

I decided to reenlist in the USAF Reserve in 2002 for another 3 year term. This time, I chose to pursue Firefighting. I wanted to work in a profession that was challenging and would require me to be physically fit. I attended the Louis F. Garland Fire Academy at Good fellow AFB, TX, in 2004. I endured 14 weeks of very demanding Firefighter training all while dieting for my 2nd Figure Competition! I had a kitchen sink and a George Foreman grill to prepare all my meals in my dorm room. I was the only female in my class and was awarded the honor of Distinguished Graduate at graduation. My decision to join the AF Reserve as a Firefighter has led me to my current occupation as a Federal Firefighter/EMT/HazMat Tech in Colorado.

I have been competing with the NPC for the past 7 years, mostly in the Figure category, but in 2009 I decided to cross over to Women's Bodybuilding. I was recently away in Iraq for one year working as a Firefighter, so needless to say, competing has been put on hold. I plan to get back on the stage in the new Women's Physique division to debut at the JR USA in May 2011. I hope to earn professional status with the IFBB and someday compete on the Olympia stage.

I hope my story motivates you to pursue achieving your goal physique. I aspire to share my knowledge and passion for fitness to help others, to be a positive role model and prove that no matter what, if you want something bad enough, YOU can make it happen. I truly believe this. I wish you the best and hope you enjoy a healthy and fit lifestyle. “Believe and you will Achieve”.
